Manitou’s ‘Special Solutions’ department has introduced a control console cover for machines working in a marine atmosphere, particularly for applications such as washing boat hulls.
The clear silicone cover is UV resistant and is guaranteed not to yellow over time, while being resistant to chemical splashes, salt water, marine life and paint. The cover has an average thickness of just 2mm and closely fits the joysticks and push buttons while being supple and elastic, meaning it does not interfere with the ‘feel’ of the controls.
It is also said to be easy to slip on and off, thanks to rivets on either side of the console. It is available for most of Manitou’s TJ and ATJ boom lift models with working heights from 16 to 28 metres.
Engineering manager Eric Rocheteau said: "We worked closely with our lead customer to ensure that this cover could be adapted to aerial work platforms of different heights, whilst guaranteeing our standards of safety and ease of use of the console. In fact, our customer has ordered a dozen of these covers for its many uses."
