Crane service fatality

A man died after falling from a work platform while working on an overhead crane in the town of Neunkirchen, Germany last Friday.

The only details available so far are those that have been provided in a statement from the police. The incident occurred in a production facility in the town. The man, 63, was described as a ‘crane worker’ we understand, but do not know for sure, that he was a crane service engineer and that he fell around eight metres. It is possible that he fell over the side of the platform, or that he simply fell from the crane at the time. There was no mention of whether his platform was overturned by an inadvertent travel function. He was declared dead at the scene.

The Occupational Safety and Health Office and the police have launched an investigation. We will update if and when we learn more.
