Herc acquires Quality

US based Herc Rentals has acquired Quality Equipment Rentals of Inglewood, a suburb of Los Angeles, California, from founders Dennis and Diann Wells.

The company was founded by the Wells in 1969 having previously worked with his father Gordon’s business Quality Paint & Garden Supply which dates back to March 1946. When ‘Gordie’ retired 1969. The name Quality Paint & Builders Supply, Dennis had already started offering equipment for rent, so the decision was taken to sell the original business to Paul Chaillie as Quality Paint & Hardware, while Dennis and Diann started Quality Equipment Rentals.

Today the company has a diverse tool and general rental fleet which includes, booms, scissor lifts and telehandlers. The Wells, along with general manager and minority owner John Lyons will remain with the business for an unspecified transition period.

Speaking of the move Lyons said: "I've been doing this most of my adult life, and with Dennis and Diann Wells retiring, the time was right for all of us to sell. We are very, very pleased with the outcome.”

Wells added: “We feel that the company is in good hands going forward.”
