German crane rental and heavy haulage company Dietmar Flossdorf has taken delivery of two Liebherr All Terrain cranes, a 700 tonne LTM 1650-8.1 and 100 tonne LTM 1110-5.2.
The eight axle LTM 1650-8.1 features a basic four section 54 metre boom which converts to a six section 80 metre boom as and when required. It can also be equipped with a 91 metre luffing jib, for a maximum tip height of 158 metres. The LTM 1650-8.1 also features VarioBase variable outrigger set up and monitoring and VarioBallast which infinitely adjusts the counterweight radius from 6.3 to 8.4 metres. This is the second crane of its type in the Flossdorf fleet with the first one arriving in April 2021.

The five axle LTM 1110-5.2, features a seven section, 60 metre main boom, topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bifold swingaway extension that can be offset by up to 40 degrees. Two extra inserts can be added between boom nose and extension to provide a maximum tip height of 96 metres. It also features the new Liebherr Liccon3 control system.

The LTM 1650-8.1 went straight from the Liebherr plant in Ehingen to the Rhine Harbour in Andernach to lift 115 tonnes of machine parts onto a barge.

Marco Flossdorf said: “We are simply very satisfied with our first LTM 1650-8.1, which we purchased almost three years ago. Impressive load capacities, high performance and great flexibility characterise this machine. That's why we wanted to expand our fleet with a second crane in this class.”
“We use these two cranes on bridge construction sites and on wind farms, among other things. We also use them for jobs in industry, refineries and heavy-duty handling. We purchased all the equipment for the crane, even our first LTM 1650-8.1 has both boom variants and the luffing lattice jib. The only difference is that the new luffing jib with the articulated NK system offers major advantages during set-up where space is limited.”

The 1650-8.1 lifting equipment onto a barge
Established in 1953, Flossdorf purchased its first crane in 1967 and runs a fleet of 20 All Terrain, mobile tower and loader cranes with capacities ranging from 30 to 650 tonnes from its location in Bad Neuenahr - south of Bonn, where it employs 60. The company also offers heavy transport, towing and recovery services alongside a number of truck and trailer mounted work platforms.
