German rental company Gerken has taken delivery of two Magni hybrid powered telescopic boom lifts, the 128ft HTB41RT and the 138ft HTB44RT.
The HTB41RT has a maximum working height of 41 metres with an outreach of 24 metres, whilst the HTB44RT has a 44 metre working height and an outreach of 26.2 metres. Both platforms have an unrestricted platform capacity of 454kg. The machines are all electric models, with a diesel powered generator to top up or recharge the battery pack on sites with no available electrical power, or when they are running low, during a work shift.
With several days possible between recharges - on typical applications - a tank of fuel can last up to 30 days on jobs with no AC power onsite. The Magni booms are essentially badged Dingli models.
Gerken managing director, Markus Liffers said: “We are always happy if we can provide our customers with sustainable rental machines even in large altitude classes that are in no way inferior to the fossil competition. Therefore, we were happy to invest in the two new and environmentally friendly hybrid work platform types, which perfectly complement our already existing range of low or emission free machines.”
The Gerken rental business was established in 1989, but the company can trace its roots back to 1963 when Manfred Gerken opened a painting business in Duesseldorf. Having become a significant user of aerial lifts on larger painting contracts, he found himself gradually moving into rental, and set up the rental company Gerken Arbeitsbühnenvermietung in 1989. Telehandlers were added in 2014 and as of January, the company has moved into crane rental. The Gerken fleet is now made up of more than 9,000 aerial work platforms from 37 locations.
