UK rental company Chippindale Plant Hire, part of the AER Rents group, has appointed Paul Blake as joint managing director, joining Nigel and Peter Chippindale to create a three man leadership team.
He joins the company after two years as a regional operations manager with Mabey Hire, he began his career in 1986 when he joined Lord Hire Centers as a rental technician and coordinator, leaving almost five years later to become a regional director with cabin rental and temporary accommodation supplier the Elliott Group, which now trades as Algeco. He remained with the business for 30 years, serving in numerous roles, including transport manager, depot manager and area manager, becoming Northern Region managing director in 2017. He left the business in 2020 and joined Mabey in 2022.

Chippindale Plant was established in Leeds by Wilfred Chippindale in 1949 and thus celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. It operates from eight locations in the north of England and runs an extensive fleet of general construction and landscaping equipment, but also operates a fleet of fixed frame telehandlers up to 17 metres along with a few platforms, including trailer lifts. Revenues for the year to the end of April 2023 were £25.6 million with a pre-tax profit of £3.6 million.
The company was acquired by AER Rents in June 2022, and in case you were wondering the two Chippindales are only 61, while Paul Blake is in his mid-50s. AER is owned by O’Flaherty Holdings of Ireland and includes Mr. Plant Hire, Mainline Group, Drogheda Hire & Sales, Welfare4Hire and Hudson Lifting as well as Chippindale Plant.
