German rental company Jandt has taken delivery of a 250 tonne Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 All Terrain crane, the second in its fleet.
The five axle LTM 1250-5.1 features a six section, 60 metre main boom plus a 12.2 to 22 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 45 degrees of offset. A wide range of extension options are available, topped by 50 metres of lattice, all of which can be offset by up to 45 degrees. The maximum tip height is 113 metres.
The two LTM 1250-5.1's working side by side
In its first job it worked alongside the other LTM 1250-5.1 unloading wind power components from a 70 metre long barge at the port of Berenbusch in Bückeburg, Lower Saxony. The heaviest lift involved the generator, which weighed 98 tonnes, and was lifted in tandem with both cranes equipped with the complete ballast of 88 tonnes.

Jens Lübeck of Jandt said: “With the new crane, we have added a second LTM 1250-5.1 to our fleet. We are very satisfied with the first one and we can now swap equipment parts between the two machines. Another important criterion for the Liebherr 250 tonner was its outstanding lifting capacity with its strong 60 metre telescopic boom."
Lifting the wind turbine components
Jandt Kranvermietung was established in 1950 by Friedrich Jandt in Bielefeld which initially operated within haulage and excavation before the first crane was purchased in 1964.
Working in tandem
The company now operates from five locations in Lower Saxony employing 35 people. It runs a fleet of 25 cranes, including city type ATs, crawlers, All Terrains, loader cranes and self erectors with capacities up to 250 tonnes.
