UK rental company Thanet Crane Hire (TCH) has taken delivery of a 150 tonne Grove GMK 5150XL All Terrain crane, the largest in its fleet.
The five axle crane has a seven section 68.7 metre main boom - one of the longest on a crane under 200 tonnes. The crane can lift 8.1 tonnes on the fully extended boom, 9.4 tonnes at 66 metres and 12.7 tonnes with 60 metres. It has been equipped with the 16.2 metre bi-fold swingaway extension and can carry up to 10.2 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loadings and up to 30.9 tonnes in the UK where 16.5 tonne axle loads are possible.
Operations director Jack Stickings said: “We have cross-hired heavy cranes for many years, and we have extensive experience in heavy lifting operations. Now we also have our own flagship crane. This was a major decision for the company and a massive investment in our future growth as a business.”
