70 tonnes for Welti Furrer

Swiss rental company Welti-Furrer has taken delivery of a 70 tonne Tadano AC 4.070-2 All Terrain.

The four axle crane crane - launched at Bauma 2022 in Munich - features a 50 metre six section main boom topped by an 8.5 to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset for a 70 metre maximum tip height. A 6.5 metre stubby heavy duty extension option offsets by up to 50 degrees.

The single engine AC 4.070-2 has six wheel drive and all wheel steer and can travel with its maximum 11.9 tonnes of counterweight and full 16 metre extension on board within 12 tonne axle loads, or manage 4.4 tonnes within 10 tonne axle loads, making it a versatile taxi crane. It has an overall width of 2.55 metres and an overall length of 11.7 metres, with a stowed height of 3.8 metres.

Other standard equipment includes remote telematics with cloud storage and ’Tadano Support’ as well as the Tadano Surround View System.

Amos Dubacher of Furrer said: “We know from experience that Tadano cranes are characterised by unrivalled quality and that the service the manufacturer provides is worth its weight in gold. And on top of that, the incredible price performance ratio was so compelling that it pretty much sealed the deal right away.”

The crane has already completed its first project which involved erecting loads of up to eight tonnes for a timber construction job in the Schaffhausen area.

Welti-Furrer was established almost 185 years ago in 1838, offering horse drawn transport in the Zurich area. It is now one of the largest crane and transport providers in Switzerland with around 50 cranes. Its fleet includes All Terrains, self-erecting mobile tower cranes and crawler cranes - topped by the new 750 tonne Liebherr LR 1750/2 - and 100 transport vehicles, some of which are equipped with medium to large loader cranes. It operates from 10 locations.
