Trackunit telematics for Maeda

Japanese spider and mini crawler crane manufacturer Maeda has teamed up with Danish company Trackunit, to provide telematics solutions on its products. The two companies will launch their partnership at Intermat later this month.

Shigeki Fukase of Maeda said: “We wanted to work with Trackunit because we are strongly committed to quality and safety. We have the ambition to become the number one manufacturer of mini crawler cranes and with the insights on offer from Trackunit's data lake, it will increase customer satisfaction through further enhancement of our quality and safety standards.
We are ISO certified across the board for safety, environmental responsibility and want to further grow our business by introducing telematics in new models. Intermat will play a really important part of that."

Chi Sen Gay of Trackunit added: “We wanted to put our stamp on Asia and Japan by establishing a hub in Singapore alongside satellite offices through the region, we made a statement that we were here to stay. Bringing on board important players like Maeda is part of that and we are working hard to connect as much of the industry as we can, both regionally and globally.”

"Maeda is a serious player in the spider and mini crawler crane market and we look forward to working with the company over the coming years. It's through connectivity that we as an industry will ultimately be able to tackle the problem of downtime and help restore the reputation of construction as a force for good.”

Headquartered in Nagano, Maeda was established in 1962. It manufacturers spider cranes, mini crawler cranes, carriers and truck mounted cranes as well as dump trucks and shield machines. It is also an official dealer for Komatsu in Japan.

Trackunit provides telematics solutions for the construction industry with two million units currently using its system. Trackunit's products include GPS tracking, equipment management software and data analytics tools helping construction companies track their equipment, monitor usage, prevent theft and optimise maintenance schedules.
