US based Nichols Crane Rental has taken delivery of a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain crane.
The five axle crane is equipped with an eight section 75 metre main boom, and can be topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. Up to three, seven metre inserts can also be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a maximum tip height of 113 metres with the main boom at 68 metres.
The handover
The new crane also includes Vario Ballast variable counterweight, Vario Base Plus outrigger set up and monitoring and remote control of crane operations.

Nichols was established in 1995 as Lola Crane Rental when Mark Nichols Sr gave up his 9 to 5 job to pursue his dream of owning his own crane rental company. The company was originally named after Mark's wife and co-founder Lola Nichols, whom, he said was the rock that allowed him to give up a comfortable, 'safe' life to pursue his dream. Today the company is based in Joliet, Illinois on the south west edge of Chicago, and runs a fleet of over 30 All Terrain, Rough Terrains and truck cranes, topped by a 450 tonne Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1.
