Italian rental company Mantovani Global Services has taken delivery of a 150 tonne Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3 All Terrain crane.
The five axle crane is equipped with a 66 metre, seven section main boom along with the 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets hydraulically by up to 40 degrees. A seven metre insert can be added between the boom nose and extension to take the maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and maximum radius to 72 metres. It also features Liebherr’s VarioBase variable outrigger set up and monitoring system.
Owner, Sandro Mantovani said: “We wanted to complete our fleet and having looked through all the options the LTM 1150-5.3 was the best choice. We were convinced by the length of the boom, its VarioBase outrigger system, its compact dimensions for its size, and it should be economic to run. It will also manage a lot of our work without requiring additional ballast transport vehicles.”
The new LTM 1150-5.3 joins a 100 tonne LTM 1100-5.2 and a 250 tonne LTM 1250-5.1 in the fleet and will primarily work on local construction projects and for naval port operations.
Mantovani is based in Bologna, and was set up in the early 1950’s by Luigi Mantovani who followed the classic post war crane rental route, purchasing surplus American army vehicles and adapting them to civilian lifting and heavy recovery machines/trucks.
Today, the company runs a fleet of All Terrain, Rough Terrain and truck mounted cranes, along with spider cranes and a growing fleet of aerial work platforms, telehandlers and heavy fork trucks.
