10th birthday for Star

UK based access rental company Star Platforms has celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Launched by Steve Simmons in Dunstable/Luton, in October 2014, See: New access rental entrant in UK, the company has expanded at a consistent and sustainable rate to become the eighth largest company according to the Cranes & Access Top 30 report 2023, and may well move a notch or two higher this year, with around 4,300 aerial lifts in its fleet, operating from nine UK locations with 180 employees.

In 2020 the company was acquired by the Indian manufacturer and rental company Sudhir Power, with owner managers Richard Miller, Steve Simmons and Bryan Freeman staying on board and continuing to run and build the business but under new ownership. Since then, the company has also entered the generator market.

Finally, last May the company moved into a new, purpose built headquarters facility in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire. As part of its celebrations, Star Platforms has introduced a 10 year service award and stepped up its 'We Rise' charity initiative with plans to support more causes close to the hearts of its employees and customers. The first employees to receive this new award, were QHSE manager Del Patterson and HGV driver Mark Young.
