Fatal machine demonstration

A man has died while a woman was badly injured in the town of Janesville, Wisconsin – south west of Milwaukee - after they fell from a vehicle mounted platform on Saturday.

The platform was we understand a truck mounted lift used by the Rock Energy Cooperative for its utilities maintenance work. It was being 'demonstrated' at an employee appreciation day at the Janesville fairgrounds, when somehow they fell around three metres from the platform/bucket.

A man, 59, has died from his injuries while a woman, 62, was treated for a number of injuries she sustained.

Rock Energy Cooperative said: “On Saturday, Rock Energy Cooperative lost a valued team member and friend in an accident that also resulted in another individual being injured.”

The investigation began with the local police but has now been turned over to OSHA investigators.
