We have received the sad news that John Hewitt, the founder of J. Hewitt Crane Hire in Middlesbrough, UK, has died.
He passed away peacefully on Thursday the 17th of October in hospital surrounded by his family he was 77.
He set up the crane rental business in 1980 and registered the current company in April 1982, his wife Norma was a co-director and served as company secretary. The built the company into a well respected operation with between 27 and 30 cranes, operating across the North east region of England. His son Paul came into the business and manged it as John began to take a back seat.
He leaves behind his wife Norma, daughter Jennifer, son Paul, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Service will be held at St John's Church, South Bank Middlesbrough TS6 6SD at 13:00, on Friday 8th November. Followed by cremation at Teesside Crematorium, Chapel of St Bede.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).
We hope to update to create a fitting tribute to a long term crane rental man.
