Ireland's first 450t Tadano

Ireland’s Flynn Crane Hire has taken delivery of the first 450 tonne Tadano AC 7.450-1 All Terrain crane to arrive in Ireland. It replaces a 300 tonne Grove as the ‘flagship’ crane.

The seven axle crane features a seven section 80 metre main boom and can also be equipped with extensions up to 59 metres for 130 metre tip height, 56 metres of combined extension and fixed offset jib for a 133 metre tip height, or an 81 metre luffing jib and the enhanced SSL Sideways Superlift system for a similar tip height. Maximum counterweight is 150 tonnes.

The chassis has all wheel steer with four drive axles and can travel with a boom, hook block and rigging on board within 12 tonne axle loads. Adding the Superlift where 16.5 tonnes is permitted. The overall length on the road is 17.6 metres.
...and arrives in Co. Wicklow

Managing director Colm Flynn said: “The Tadano AC 7.450-1 offers unparalleled reach with its 80 metre main boom and optional luffing jib. Its combination of compactness and strength enables us to take on projects that previously required larger cranes, but with greater efficiency. It’s the size of a six axle model with the power and performance of an eight axle crane. Its outstanding load chart and small footprint is ideal for Ireland’s tighter job sites, particularly in urban areas.”

Contracts manager Simon Carroll added: “The SSL Superlift design ensures that setup is both safe and fast, which is a tremendous advantage for demanding projects. The AC 7.450-1’s compact size and Surround View camera system make navigating and operating in confined spaces straightforward, while its lifting power matches many larger cranes. These features are particularly beneficial for jobs where space and time are limited.”

Based near Blessington, to the south west of Dublin in County Wicklow, Flynn was established around 20 years ago and offers a range of other products and services from lift and shift to aerial work platform and telehandler rental. Its crane fleet includes All Terrains, city cranes and mobile self-erecting tower cranes as well as loader cranes.
