The JCB A45EH has a classic 45ft geometry with a dual sigma riser, topped by a two section telescopic boom and articulating jib, providing a maximum working height of 15.8 metres, with up to 7.47 metres of outreach with the unrestricted platform capacity of 300kg at an up & over clearance height of 7.48 metres.

The unit is powered by eight 6V batteries feeding four AC wheel drive motors and pump drive motor for the hydraulics. A three cylinder Kohler diesel coupled to a 7.5kWA generator keeps the battery pack topped up or can be used for a full recharge when mains power is not available. Four wheel drive, two wheel steer and an oscillating rear axle are standard as is regenerative braking to top up the battery pack. The units were purchased through the local dealer TC Harrison JCB.

Abba manager, Nick Howe said: “We have bought JCB equipment for 40 years for the quality of its products and our faith in the brand. The new JCB A45EH models mark a significant step forward. Being a hybrid boom, it gives dual utilisation, enabling indoor and outdoor operation, bringing great flexibility for hirers like us and our customers.”

Established in 1983 by civil engineer John Martin-Hoyes, Abba Plant Hire is based in Lincoln in the English East Midlands and runs a fleet that includes All Terrain cranes up to 230 tonnes. It entered the powered access market in 2006 and has expanded the range of products to include boom lifts up to 135ft and scissor lifts up to 53ft. It also offers fixed frame telehandlers up to 20 metres, along with earthmoving equipment.
