Spotted by a reader in Taghazout, Morocco, two men carrying out façade and window repairs on the upper floor of a Pizzeria using a blend of ladder with human stabiliser to reach the work.
So much wrong and so many risks here that it is hard to know where to start, a ladder used at an angle well below its design criteria, resting on something attached to a balcony handrail and the narrow sill with a man attempting to hold it in place - a human ladder stabiliser if you like – while standing on the 300 to 400mm wide ledge, his chosen footwear? Flip-flops.
No point mentioning things guardrails or fall arrest equipment. The height? around four to six metres with a hard concrete landing space below.
If the ladder slips off the edge of the sill, or the man on the ladder loses his balance, the whole lot will go, almost certainly leading to death or life changing injuries.
Definitely one for our death wish series.
Have a safe weekend.
