More charged over lift accident

Three senior managers as well as the bus driver have now been charged by police investigating the death of a platform operator in Manchester.

Vincenzo Casale, managing director of GM buses and the jointly-operated UK North, is one of the trio charged over the fatal crash.

Signwriter Martin Pilling, 27, from Worsley, fell from the platform of his Genie boom lift and into the path of a double-decker bus which had collided with the platform. The accident happened on Wilmslow Road, Rusholme, last November

The driver of the bus, Krzysztof Ociepa, 46, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving earlier this month.

Mr Casale, 43, from Glossop, co-director Ernesto Casale, 44, from Newton, and the group's business manager David Michael Ellis, 36, from Dukinfield, were all charged with conspiring to create false documents. It follows a joint investigation by police and the Vehicle Operation Services Agency.

They are due to appear before Manchester magistrates tomorrow.
