Scaffold collapse in Middlesborough
The residents of Jedburgh Street, Middlesbrough had a shock on Saturday evening when a 100 metre stretch of façade scaffolding roughly two storeys high came crashing down in high winds.

Fortunately the street was relatively quiet at the time and only one man in his 30’s was injured by the falling structure. His condition is reported as not being life threatening. Several parked cars were also wrecked.
The tube and clamp scaffolding had been erected by Teesside-based SGW Construction, under contract to Middlesbrough Council, in order to gain access to the clean the exterior facades of the terraced houses.

A stretch of around 100m of scaffolding came down
Early reports blame the collapse on poor anchoring and the fact that it was fully covered with sheeting that which appeared to catch the strong winds.
