Toppling cranes block roads
Hardly a day goes by that that we do not receive a report of a crane tipping over or bashing a bridge. Yesterday afternoon was no exception with one crane tipping over on a construction site on Interstate 70 near Clear Spring, near Hagerstown, Maryland, blocking the highway for around eight hours.
Details of what type of crane and why are sketchy but it appears no one was injured in the incident.
A few hours later another crane toppled over in Tampa, Florida through a simple overload. The crane, which was carrying out a lift alongside the railway line, crashed down across Busch Boulevard closing the eastbound carriageway. Once again reports are vague but it appears that no one was injured.
If we discover more details of these tip overs we will report back, one is apparently a straight forward case of lifting too heavy a load, the other… our guess? an outrigger issue? But that’s a comment rather than the news, so let’s wait and see…
