New European and North American JCB Loadalls
JCB has now officially launched its new low-boom Loadalls. The machines – the 535-125 HiViz and the 535-140 HiViz – have been redesigned to offer improved visibility and productivity. It also plans to launch four high boom Loadalls specifically aimed at the North American market at Conexpo.

JCB's Hi-Viz Loadall machines are now available
The company says that the HiViz visibility is 10 percent better than previous machines - achieved by a lowering the boom pivot height by 235mm.

Several factors contribute to better rear visibility and overall manoeuvrability
The overall boom section has also been reduced by 13 percent through the innovative use of materials and components. In addition, the new machines have a more compact rear chassis, which results in a 90mm reduction in overhang. The addition of new axles - featuring higher lock angles - also improve the machine’s turning radius by about 250mm. These improvements combine to make the new HiViz Loadalls easier and speedier to operate.

Rear three quarter visibility has been significantly increased
JCB chief operating officer Matthew Taylor said: “As housing densities rise, the need for more compact and easier-to-manoeuvre machines with improved rear 3/4 visibility will be increased. With the two new HiViz models, JCB is well-placed to meet this demand.”

Taylor said that JCB produced 13,500 telehandlers last year and was global market leader. In the UK he said that the company was clear market leader with 60 percent share with sales of about 5,000 units.
Its main markets after the UK included France, Italy, Spain and Germany and the company was building sales in Scandinavia with Russia growing but still in its infancy.
Sales in the USA are also growing and the company is planning to launch four high boom Loadalls built for the North American market at the Conexpo show in March.
Designed specifically to meet the needs of North American contractors and rental companies, the high boom Loadalls will feature side mounted Tier 3-compliant engines, powershift transmissions, single lever control and rear axle stabilisation on models with a working height above 42ft.
The Loadall 506-36 has a lift capacity of 6,000lb and a lift height of 36ft. A 7,000lb class machine will be available in the form of the 507-42, which replaces the 506CHL and offers a maximum lift height of 42ft. The 509-42 also has a 42ft lift height, but can handle loads up to 9,000lb, replacing the current 508C model. Topping the line-up is a completely new model with a 10,000lb lift capacity and a working height of 56ft.

The new instrumentation panel also incorporates warning lights, including one which alerts the operator when the stabiliser legs are down
The new 535-125 HiViz and 535-140 HiViz are among the first models to incorporate a new dashboard and control layout that features new easy-to-read instrumentation that groups all the separate analogue dials into a single display unit. It includes an LCD display which, at the touch of a button, allows the operator to see the time to the next service and the trip distance.

The new instrumentation panel also incorporates relocated and easier to see warning lights, including one which alerts the operator when the stabiliser legs are down. Both machines have a 3.5 tonne maximum lift capacity with lift heights of 12.3 metres and 13.8 metres respectively.

Standard engine is the 85hp (63kW) JCB Dieselmax engine and there is a 100hp (74kW) option. The units retain a powershift transmission with low-effort ‘Plus’ pattern hydraulic controls. The cab is roomy and has a large glass area and angled roof bars for good upwards visibility. The machines still feature a Q-fit carriage for rapid attachment interchange and side-mounted engine with large cover for easy service access.
JCB said that it has recently invested £9 million (€13m) on a second production line for telescopic handlers at its plant in Rocester, UK and expanded production to its USA factory in Savannah, Georgia.
