Crane boom kills in Iowa
A man was died on Saturday on a gas pipeline construction site in Pacific Junction, Iowa after he was crushed by a crane boom that he was disassembling.
It appears that Charles Heitman, 54, removed some of the boom pins out of sequence as well as working underneath it.
Heitman suffered trauma to his stomach and legs and other internal injuries and was airlifted to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, where he underwent surgery, from which he did not recover.
He was reported to be an employee of WHC Inc of Lafayette, Louisiana.
