IPAF highlights dangers and launches photo contest

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and its North American subsidiary Aerial Work Platform Training (AWPT) showed the dangers of not wearing a harness in a boom type platform at Conexpo today.

The organisation - celebrating its 25th anniversary - also announced a photo contest to promote the safe and effective use of aerial platforms.

The contest - which ends on 30th September 2008 - is looking for dramatic pictures that show mobile platforms or mast climbing platforms being used correctly. Two categories for entries includes one for general users of powered access and one for the media(journalists and photographers) with prizes in each category.

Details are available at www.ipaf.org

IPAF also used the show to demonstrate the dangers of not wearing a harness when operating a boom type platform. Using a 'dummy' a boom whip-lash type accident was set-up by driving a platform over two ramps.
