A Tadano truck crane owned by Smith Crane and Construction tipped over yesterday, in Stoke, a suburb of Nelson, South Island, New Zealand.
The crane was lifting house frames when it tipped and smashed through the framework of the house under construction. The boom Landed a few metres away from an occupied house next door.

A Smith Crane manager is reported locally as having said: "To be honest, I don't know why it fell. Everything was done properly. The crane is now being examined for mechanical failure.”
No one was hurt in the incident.
From the material we have been sent it looks as though the beam of the rear outrigger on the side of the lift, might not have been fully extended. However given the quality of the information and the angle of the photograph we cannot be certain.
