Doosan Heavy Industries wins $117 million Singapore order
South Korea's Doosan Heavy Industries has announced today that it has won a 115 billion won (£59.1 million) order for 79 rubber tyred gantry cranes from PSA Singapore Terminals.
Doosan said in a statement that the cranes will be used in the second stage construction of a terminal in Pasir Panjang, located south-west area of Singapore, and are due to be delivered by December, 2009.
“PSA Singapore Terminals has seen steady growth of 12.1 percent in the first quarter of 2008, year-on-year,” said, Kuah Boon Wee, PSA ceo for SE Asia and Singapore Terminals. “We will continue to invest in world-class port facilities and equipment to ensure that we retain our value as an attractive hub port of choice to the shipping lines.”
The cranes will be the first batch of RTGs equipped with energy-saving devices to help reduce fuel usage and will cater to growing volumes at PSA’s new berths at the Pasir Panjang Terminal.
Kyung-Ho Park, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction evp said, “Doosan is pleased to partner PSA Singapore Terminals on the supply of cranes. The RTGs have been customised to PSA’s specifications, which include fuel consumption conservation, thereby safeguarding the environment. We are confident of delivering the RTGs on time to support PSA’s role as the world’s busiest container transhipment hub.”
