First Oman order for Gottwald

Salalah Port Services Company (SAOG) - which operates the Port of Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman - has recently ordered four mobile harbour cranes from Gottwald Port Technology. The first two units will be delivered at the end of June 2008 and the remaining two at the end of July 2008.

With lifting capacities of up to 100 tonnes and equipped with twinlift spreaders, the cranes will be used for serving container ships up to the Post-Panamax class.

The four G HMK 6407 cranes, which are variants of Gottwald's latest model 6 harbour cranes, will be the first Gottwald cranes to be delivered to Oman.

“The award of this contract not only provides us with a new customer, with whom we have already established excellent business relations, it strengthens our worldwide presence and above all our position in the Middle East, which has developed into a key market for us," said Dirk Stoll, Gottwald's Regional Director Middle East.

The Port of Salalah is one of the world's largest container terminals. In the course of the port development, Salalah Port Services initially intends to increase its annual capacity to approximately 4.5 million TEUs.
