Weather blamed for Jib buckling
Bad weather is being blamed for the damage done to the jib of a tower crane earlier this week in East London, South Africa. The crane is located on a site at the Regent Hotel in the Quigney, East London, South Africa.
The cranes jib simply buckled with the half furthest from the tower left dangling from the half of the jib still suspended.

Braam Theron of Radon projects said:“We are still investigating how it happened, but I can confirm the damage was caused by the strong wind.”
The East London weather service doubted that the winds had been strong enough to cause such destruction. Mark Human said they had measured the maximum speed of wind in the East London area at only 55km/h.
No one was injured in the incident.
