New 17 metre Telehandler from Genie

Genie has launched its new 17 metre/4,000 kg GTH-4017 SX telehandler, paying specific attention to making it compact for congested job sites and tailoring it to the rental industry,

The new unit offers a maximum lift height of 17.19 metres, maximum lift capacity of 4,000 kg and can take 700 kg out to its maximum forward reach of 13.3 metres.

Mmanoeuvrability improvements include an improved turning radius of 2.42 metres inside/ 4.65 metres outside, a new ‘inching’ function that provides very precise control at the lowest speed. The 4017 boasts a 2.32 metres overall width and 2.44 metres overall height, while a new four section boom reduces the overall length as well as stepping up telescope speeds.

The new model also includes a dedicated stability control system, now standard on all Genie telehandlers, which includes a hydraulic accumulator to smooth out shocks while operating the boom.

The new Genie GTH 4017-SX with jib attachment

The GTH-4017 SX features a new-generation cabin for improved operator comfort and productivity, placing controls and load charts within easy reach. Controls are on an easy to use multi-function 4x1 joystick and steering controls include an optional rear tyre alignment system.

The power train now includes a new smoother hydrostatic transmission matched to an electronically controlled 101 hp Tier 3 engine.

Service and maintenance modifications include a wider opening engine compartment for better access, new engine air intake housings to protect the battery from external contaminants and rain, and a dedicated maintenance collar has been added to the boom’s lift cylinder to allow safer access between the boom and chassis.

“This new machine has been built to enable simpler service and maintenance, making it ideal for the rental industry,” says Carlo Forini, general manager for Genie’s telehandler product range. “This telehandler has been designed to provide operators with high-quality performance, whilst remaining easy-to-use. We have added value by providing a road transfer mode, in which the hydraulic pump allows selection of the right engine power for low-performance work thereby saving fuel. All the enhancements will bring real value to any fleet.”

The new model is manufactured at the company’s plant in Perugia, Italy and will be sold throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia, South America, Australia and parts of Asia.
