CTE finalises new Z21

CTE has completed development and testing on its new 21 metre Z21 truck mounted lift and begun series production.

The company’s engineers have, they say, worked hard to create the best combination of performance and features to help the new model win a significant share of the highly competitive 3,500kgs/20 metre truck mounted lift market.

As part of this effort CTE is claiming a world first for this type of lift, by including a sigma style dual riser, telescopic top boom and independent articulating jib.

The benefits are an improved working envelope and the ability to reach difficult areas while offering good outreach at 9.2 metres. Slew is 360 degrees contnuous.

The Rovereto based company has also put a good deal of effort into the controls on this new machine, building on the latest controls from its popular Z20 machine. They are fully proportional with adjustable ramp functions to help avoid sudden starts and stops and include a good deal of multi function capability.

All tubes and hoses on the Z21 have been routed internally in order to protect them from damage and falling objects, while the 1400 x 700 x 1100 mm basket is made from what the company calls a ‘composite’ material, which it says is far more durable than aluminium, while providing some insulating capability. The cage is also built in a way that allows parts such s the handrails, to be replaced with the basket in situ.

Outriggers have triple protection, says CTE, lights on the control panel indicate correct extension, minimum footprint dimensions and monitor pressure on each jacks to ensure that each carries its minimum share of the machines outrigger loadings.

Only when the system is satisfied that the outriggers are properly set, can the basket be raised. In addition the company has installed a “collision avoidance system” to prevent the boom and its protection bar striking the vehicles bumper when stowing.

The final production version of the Z21 will be on display at the upcoming APEX show in Maastricht this September.
