Mediaco acquires Sogecofa
Mediaco, Frances leading crane and access company has purchased Group Sogecofa, a major crane, access and industrial maintenance company headquartered in Tonneins, south west France, with a major division in north east France, based in Cernay.
The deal which was completed late last week includes 1,000 items of equipment including 150 mobile cranes with up to 500 tonnes capacity, a range of aerial work platforms, materials handling equipment, 22 locations and 400 employees.

Sogecofa is Frances third largest crane rental company
The acquisition extends Mediaco's depot network to 70 outlets with over 2,400 employees and 5,000 items of equipment – including 700 cranes with capacities from 30-1,200 tonnes.
Mediaco was founded in 1942 by Jean-Jacques Vernazza, but it was not until 1973 in Marseille that the chairman of the group – Christian-Jacques Vernazza – launched the lifting and handling activities which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

Group revenues have increased rapidly since 1996 rising from €30 million to €300 million this year.
Sogecofa (Société Générale de Construction de Fauillet) was founded in Fauillet, near Tonneins, in 1964 and entered the lifting business in 1970. The current president is Christine Dall'Agata.
Mediaco Maxilift – formed in 2006 – claims to be market leader in France for specialist heavy lifting. It has a 1,200 tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 11200 9.1 on order due for delivery early next year, and will have a Liebherr LR1600 crawler crane with Superlift on display at next years Intermat in Paris.

Its specialist access division – Mediac’up – says that it will be taking delivery of a Wumag 103 metre platform in time for it to be displayed at Intermat.
