NY crane inspector quits job
A New York City crane inspector has resigned a month after he was suspended for neglect of duty. The city Department of Buildings said Michael Carbone submitted his resignation yesterday.
Acting Commissioner Robert LiMandri said Carbone was suspended without pay on June 27 for neglect of duty. He said Carbone had been subject to an internal investigation.
City records showed Carbone dismissed complaints that some crane operators were working with licenses obtained fraudulently.
The buildings department has not commented on what role Carbone played in inspecting the scene of the May 30 crane collapse on the Upper East Side.
