Elavation adds to fleet

Elavation, the Milton Keynes, UK, based powered access rental and training company has moved into the next phase of its growth plans with an order for more than 45 boom lifts from local supplier Niftylift.

The order, which is worth over £2 million, includes a number of Nifty's 63ft (19m) platform height HR21 Bi-Energy and 4x4 as well as a number of the manufacturer’s smallest self propelled boom lift, the 26ft (8m) platform height, HR10E.

Elavation, which was founded by Barry Brady and Manuel Gonzalez just over four years ago, is expanding its fleet from its current 240 units to the 300 it had originally planned for its fifth year in operation.

According to Brady, after a quieter start to the year after a “crazy 2007” the company is as busy as ever, with utilisation and rental rates holding up well and forward prospects looking strong as its customers continue to book new work.

The purchase of the HR10’s is targeted at trades like shop fitters, refurbishment and cleaning contractors which appreciate the extreme simplicity of the machine along with its compact dimensions and low ground bearing pressures – with a GVW of just 2,130 kgs.

Elavation says that the HR21 has been a highly successful machine thanks to its low weight and over 12 metres of outreach. The low weight and compact dimensions allows Elavation to fit two HR21 on its 26 tonne trucks or load one unit along with a good number of small scissors, thus reducing its delivery costs, an increasingly critical factor with the current price of fuel.

The 4x4 has been a surprising hit with steel erectors, who normally prefer straight booms, while a number of users like its perfectly parallel lift pattern when using the risers/lower booms.

Other units in the order include the HR170 and HR210SD high speed - low weight units which are finding a growing following with users such as golf clubs etc… and the Nifty TD120TN tracked Spiderlift model.

The growing company is also a member of the Access Link, a relationship that it values not only for the national service that it provides to its customers but also for the opportunity it provides to meet and discuss issues with other local or regional companies within the Link.

The first units of this new order are being delivered now, with the rest phased over the coming months.
