Genie to build new parts building

Aerial lift manufacturer Genie is building a 17,600 square metre (190,000-sq ft) parts and logistics warehouse in North Bend to the south east of Seattle and the company’s headquarters in Redmond Washington.

The current Redmond based operations, of replacement parts, warranty, and logistics are expected to move to the new facility, which will include two buildings at and will reportedly employ up to 250, The logistics operation is move into the new building as early as first quarter 2009, while the parts operation is expected to open in the second quarter.


Dave Schille, Genie's parts director for parts is reported by the local newspaper as saying: "Our parts department has really expanded - we are out of space. With all of the growth and congestion in Redmond, it is necessary to move our logistics centre to both a gain space and other efficiencies, while allowing us to combine two teams into one."

The company is still going through the permit process for the site, but the earthmoving activity has apparently already begun.
