Another AT fire

An All Terrain crane caught fire this morning while travelling on the M62 motorway near Warrington and St Helens in Merseyside, northern England, closing the road between junctions six and seven and causing major rush hour congestion.

The two axle 40 tonner from the Graham Jones Cranes fleet was badly damaged while a large diesel spillage had to be cleaned up before the road could be reopened.

We have reported on at least four such incidents since June, all of them involving All Terrains travelling on fast roads, and we know that there have been several others that we will not have received details on. Given the cost for the repairs, loss of income, not to mention road damage and disruption, this issue will be under close scrutiny. Perhaps a feature for a magazine article?

AHH ppm one spark and poof, problem is fuel filter and lines in there and the electrical box for the telmar, I've seen these melt and spark like November the 5th, some operators keep all sorts of things from rags to diesel cans in there, recipe for disaster

@Daveliftsitbetter, do you mean we can't make expert analysis from behind our screens based on one photo? That's what the internet is for!!
Looks to me like a flux capacitor exceeded 1.21 gigawatts.

Speed kills! People who exceed speed limits, vehicular limits, etc. ought to be shot or banned from public roads. Common sense is all it takes to drive safely. If my vehicle speed is too slow for some fool behind me, it’s too bad. Will they ever learn? The high cost of auto insurance is most certainly based on fast careless drivers. I am ranting on a soap box and I hope others hear and learn.

Fuel filter is located in that locker

You can see it unscrewed from its location
On the locker floor

Just a observation but don’t look good

Time for regulatory compliance for these cranes, no Mots, no regulatory maintenance checks, no drivers hours restrictions. How can the authorities allow these accidents waiting to happen on the UK roads.

Crane lads
Could be a electric fault.a lot of this is down to the speed the crane's are traveling at I've been overtake by crane's that must be doing around 50 mph even though the tyres are only good for 43mph. Not saying it's the case this time.
