More Liebherrs for King

UK crane rental company King Lifting has started taking delivery of a batch of 19 new Liebherr cranes, from an order placed in February. Further units are due for delivery early next year and include 230 tonne LTM1230-5.1s, 90 tonne LTM1090-4.1s and 60 tonne LTM1060-3.1.

Th cranes delivered so far include a 700 tonne LTM1650-8.1, a 350 tonne LTM1350-6.1, 150 tonne LTM1150-6.2 and three 60 tonne LTM1060-3.1 all of which have gone straight to work.

The eight axle LTM 1650-8.1 is equipped with both the 54 and 80 metre main boom options, along with the 21 to 91 metre luffing jib and Y-guying system, providing maximum tip heights of up to 155 metres and maximum radii of up to 112 metres. The equipment also allows the new crane to adapt to a fixed offset jib operation. Other features include the VarioBallast hydraulically variable counterweight system, Stage V diesels with ECOdrive and ECOmode fuel and emission saving devices and Variobase variable outrigger set up and monitoring

The LTM 1650-8.1

The five axle LTM1150-5.3has a 66 metre seven section main boom plus a bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees offset. A seven metre insert can also be added to push maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and maximum radius to 72 metres. The crane can travel in the UK with 29 tonnes of counterweight, extension and hook block and stay within 16.5-tonne axle loads. The maximum counterweight is 45 tonnes. The specification also includes Stage V engines VarioBase, ECOdrive and ECOmode.

The LTM 1150-5.3

The six axle LTM1350-6.1 has a 70 metre main boom with y-guying system and a 78 metre luffing jib with adaptor to make up the maximum fixed jib of 42 metres. King has also purchased a 500 tonne LTM1500-8.1 with stage 4 engine to meet growing demand for infrastructure projects such as HS2.
All of the cranes over 100 tonnes have been equipped with Liebherr’s engine shutdown system to help with safe operation in oil, gas and petrochemical applications.

The LTM 1350-6.1 working in Cardiff

Managing director Tristan King said: “we are delighted to start taking delivery of cranes from our initial order with Liebherr, whilst also increasing the overall number of units we operate throughout the UK to further support our valued and expanding client base.”

Based in Bristol, family owned King Lifting was established in 1982 by chairman Bob King. It operates a fleet of more than 120 All Terrain, tower and crawler cranes with capacities from eight tonnes upwards from a network of nine locations.
