More details on new 50 metre Bronto

Details are starting to emerge about the new 50 metre Bronto XDT series truck platform. We understand that it will be called the S50 XDTJ and will feature a new three section telescopic fly jib giving an up and over outreach of 15.5 metres at about 32 metres high.

Maximum outreach is 35 metres with 120kg platform capacity. Maximum capacity is 600kg.

The unit slots between the existing Bronto models - the 46 metre S46 XDT and the 53 metre S53 XDT - but offers performance (outreach and basket capacity) similar to the larger 53 metre platform.

The new S 50 XDTJ

The S50 XDTJ has been developed on a three axle, 26 tonne 6x4 MAN TGS 26.400 truck and is said to have all the characteristics of the XDT platform family. Various basket options will be available including air/water lines, a 300kg capacity hoist and intercom system.

As to the competition: Palfinger does not have a competing model in this size having the smaller 45 metre WT 450 or larger 53 metre WT 530.
The closest competitor is the Ruthmann Steiger T470 which has a 47 metre working height, 32 metre outreach and 500kg maximum capacity.

The overall length of the three axle Bronto is as yet unknown however but will probably be longer than the Ruthmann T470 which measures 10.5 metres on its two axle chassis.
