First Tadano 130 in Scotland

Scottish crane rental company Horizon Reinforcing and Crane Hire has taken delivery of a new 130 tonne Tadano Faun ATF 130G-5, the first of this model in Scotland.

The five axle machine comes with 60 metres of main boom plus an 18 metre swing-away extension and a total of 42 tonnes of counterweight on a compact 2.75 metre chassis with all wheel steering and tail-swing of just over four metres.

The crane can carry up to 21.4 tonnes of counterweight on the road, running within the UK’s STGO category C, giving a strong lift without the need for back up vehicles. The new model was also delivered with heavy duty ‘stubby’ 3.8 metre off-settable extension, capable of lifting up to 40 tonnes.

The new crane will operate from the company’s recently opened Bankside depot, in Falkirk.

Steven Dougall of Horizon said: “We looked closely at the range of 130 tonne machines on the market. On performance and specification wise we chose the Tadano. This crane is now the fourth Tadano Faun in our fleet, along with the ATF 220G-5, ATF 90G-4 and ATF 65G-4, and we are extremely happy in terms of reliability of the cranes and the service from Cranes UK.”

Paul Goodall of Tadano distributor Cranes UK added: “We are grateful that Steven and his family continue to add our cranes to their fleet and I am sure the machine will fit in well with the company’s already well-established fleet.”
