This is the way to Amarillo

Amarillo, Texas based Panhandle Steel Erectors has taken delivery of a 130 tonne Tadano ATF 130G-5 All Terrain crane.

The company collected the crane from Tadano’s Houston headquarters where it was in stock, and drove it the 600 miles/1,000 kilometres north to its Amarillo Headquarters.

Panhandle Steel has a fleet of five axle Tadano All Terrain cranes, with a 90 tonne ATF90G-5, a 110 tonne ATF 110G-5 and 220 tonne ATF 220G-5. When it started looking for a 130 tonner the fact that a unit was in stock in Houston, clinched the deal.

Brandon Hillard, Panhandle’s safety director and trainer said: “To be able to drive the crane off the lot as opposed to picking it up at the port was a huge cost saving. The other driving factor is the phenomenal Tadano service support team.”

“The load charts on this crane are just what we need when working with cellphone towers and transformers as well as providing the spindle height and lifting capacity necessary for wind turbine jobs. With the versatility of several counterweight configurations, we are able to price out our jobs so we know the exact amount of trucks to use.”

The Tadano ATF 130-5G

Panhandle Steel Erectors was founded in 1947 by the late Norwegian Mandrup Skeie, Snr. and Kjetil Mjolhus. With locations in Amarillo, Texas and Garden City, Kansas, it provides crane services, steel erection, fabrication, concrete panel erection, wind and solar energy and industrial support and maintenance. Today, second generation owners Mandrup Skeie, Jr. and Knut Mjolhus direct the daily operations.
