Eleven of the cranes will be the LHM 280 model with each port having at least one crane. Two ports will add more capacity opting for Liebherr’s newest model, the LHM 420. Entreprise Portuaire de Skikda has ordered two LHM 420s and one is heading for Entreprise Portuaire de Béjaia.
Entreprise Portuaire d’Oran has opted for four LHM 120s. Entreprise Portuaire d’Annaba has ordered two additional LHM 120s which will work side-by-side with the new LHM 280.
According to a manager of the Algerian purchasing association ‘Liebherr was the best supplier with short delivery times, local staff and state-of-the-art equipment’.
“We succeeded in a number of comprehensive tenders in the past, but this order is really unique,” said Matthias Mungenast, sales director for Liebherr mobile harbour cranes. “It underlines the current market situation, which is treating us very well. We look forward to a great 2014 year.”
