Terex Cranes is now ready to ship its Boom Booster kit for the 1,600 tonne CC 8800-1 crawler crane. Announced at the end of last year – see:
Terex Cranes reveals details of new ‘boom booster’, the kit is available with new crane purchases and can also be retrofitted to existing models. The company claims it can increase the crane’s capacity by up to 90 percent.
The new kit comprises five 10 metre long by 10 metre wide bolt-together boom sections, plus two bolt-together tapered sections - both of which are 11 metres long - providing a new extra wide base boom of 72 metres on top of which standard boom sections are pinned to provide long heavy duty boom configurations. Walkways and fall protection systems are built into the new boom sections which are said to be easy and cost effective to transport - fitting into standard 40ft open top containers.
Guntram Jakobs, Terex Cranes, manager product marketing, said: “No other lift enhancing equipment on the market offers the balance of increased lifting capacity and low economical transport costs than the new Terex Boom Booster. This new boom configuration option will give a big boost to the customers’ results in the field.”
