The two cranes went straight to work on the 450 metre four lane flyover/bridge on the Jaydebpur-Mymensingh road improvement project. The two cranes will tandem lift and place a total of 135 bridge beams, weighing 70 tonnes each, over the next four months.
They are then scheduled to move on to the Padma Bridge project where they will have 670 beams to install on the 6.15km long bridge connecting Dhaka with areas to the south and west of the capital.
The CKL1000i can be rigged with up to 61 metres of main boom, and a maximum system length of 70.1 metres when using its 18.3 metre jib with a 51.8 metre boom. The crane can lift its fully capacity at a radius of three metres and handle 10.9 tonnes at a radius of 18 metres.
Rafiqul Bari head of supply chain at Abdul Monem said: “We have richest equipment fleet in Bangladesh. We believe we have taken the right decision to purchase CKL1000i cranes from Kobelco India, the globally reputed crane manufacturer which will add value in our performance.”

Kobelco Cranes India is expecting to ship 10 cranes to the country this year, helped by the fact that the production facility is on the east coast, cutting shipping time and costs to Bangladesh. The cranes will be serviced from Kobelco’s Calcutta office a 40 minute flight from Dhaka.
