Liebherr Sunderland celebrates 25 years

Liebherr's, port, maritime and cargo handling production facility in Sunderland, UK has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Located at Ayres Quay, on the bank of the River Wear, the facility has produced more than 2,000 port, offshore and mobile harbour cranes since it was opened in 1989. To celebrate the milestone the company’s 186 employees joined suppliers, local government representatives and Liebherr family members in a tour of its facilities before spending the evening at the Stadium of Light football ground.

Sunderland managing director Ralph Sälzer said: “We are delighted to be celebrating this milestone occasion. Our move to Sunderland was a real vote of confidence in the area, and the success we have seen since, is testament to the skilled workforce we have here, and the support we have had from Sunderland city council and other local stakeholders.”
