Wacker and Claas end telehandler deal

Wacker Neuson and Claas have mutually agreed to end their strategic alliance for agricultural telescopic handlers as of 2018.

Wacker Neuson has been supplying Claas branded telehandlers, built at its Kramer plant, for Claas to sell through its agricultural dealers since 2005. Wacker Neuson sells similar telehandlers under the Wacker, Neuson and Kramer brands to the construction, rental and general markets through its own distribution network. It also produces a few telehandlers under the Weidemann brand for the agricultural market.

From 2018 on, the two partners will go their own ways in the telescopic handler market. Wacker Neuson says that it does not expect any significant impact on group revenue and earnings. It also adds that the agricultural sector is already a key strategic market, which will increase in importance. It already sells Weidemann wheel loaders and telescopic handlers to the sector, It now plans to increase this activity and add telehandlers of over six metres to the brand.

Wacker Neuson chief executive Cem Peksaglam said: “We have been working together for a decade now. The decision to end this collaboration was not easy for either party. However, the move will enable both companies to adapt their individual corporate strategies to dynamic market trends and capitalise on market opportunities. We are grateful to Claas for the many years of great collaboration”.
