New AAA owners
AAA Rentals of Redwood City, California, has been acquired by general manager Ed Dobbs and assistant manager Jerry Dobbs.
The father and son team have been managing the company since 1985. The sale follows the death in late December of owner John Kenneth (Ken) Brown aged 93, and his co-owner wife Lois who died in February.

The Browns founded the company – K&L Rental - in 1964 as an A-Z Rental franchise, but shortly thereafter he went independent creating the AAA Rentals trading name, serving the San Francisco bay area from the single location. The company runs wide range of general equipment, and also has a fleet of Skyjack scissor lifts and Niftyift trailer and SD booms, telehandlers and scaffold towers. Brown was active involved in the business until becoming ill shortly before he died.

The transaction was valued, structured and supported by Fred Hageman of Rental Acquisitions. The company name has changed from K&L to Full House Equipment Rentals, but still trades as AAA Rentals.
Ed Dobbs said: “After over 30 years working for the ‘Boss’, Mr. Brown, as he was always known, we are delighted to carry on the business and the spirit of renting equipment here at AAA and are thrilled to buy the business and continue to serve our loyal customers”.
“We would particularly like to thank Fred Hageman of Rental Acquisitions for assisting us in the process, valuing the company but most importantly structuring the sale with our best interests in mind. Without Fred this deal might not have happened.”
