UK takes 4 Kalmars

UK port operator group Associated British Ports (ABP) has taken delivery of four Kalmar Gloria reachstackers for its container terminal in Immingham.

The 45 tonne DRG450-65S5X reachstackers, which can stack up to five containers high on the first row, have been equipped with Kalmar’s new K-Motion drive-train technology, which increases efficiency and productivity. Joining a fleet of seven Kalmar reachstackers, ABP is currently modernising its fleet to meet growing demand for short sea container transit.

Steve Williams, ABP head of operations at Grimsby and Immingham, said: “Once again we have selected Kalmar because they have an outstanding reputation for providing equipment with innovative solutions. Furthermore, their guarantee of after sales service and support will reduce any unexpected downtime in our units, meaning our port will always be running at maximum capacity."
