13 big truck mounts for BMS

Danish international specialist rental company BMS has placed an order with Palfinger for 13 truck mounted lifts ranging from 55 to 103 metres in a deal worth around €8 million.

The units were purchased through Palfinger Platform’s distributor in Denmark Danilift and will be delivered at a rate of one a month over the next year.They will be based at BMS facilities in Germany, the UK, Norway and Sweden.The new additions will swell the BMS large platform fleet to 38 units, topped by the 103 metre Palfinger WT1000.

Most of the 13 platforms will be mounted on a Scania P410 8x6 chassis with 3 drive axles, full pneumatic suspension and third-generation Euro 6 engines. All units will be equipped with heated platform floors and control consoles that enable tradesmen to continue working at height when low temperatures might otherwise prevent it. The extendible platforms have 600 kg maximum capacity.

The first unit, a 55 metre Palfinger P-550

The new units will also include satellite links allowing the company to monitor each machine remotely, no matter where they are working. The units are part of a new programme that aims to guarantee a 24hour availability for any customer anywhere in Europe. So far the system has been implemented in Germany, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Benelux region. The new deliveries will allow this to be extended.
