750 tonne crawler for Fanger
Swiss rental company Fanger Kran has taken delivery of a 750 tonne Liebherr LR 1750/2 crawler crane. The new crane will be based near Lucerne in central Switzerland and replaces a 1997 400 tonne Liebherr LR 1400 that Fanger has been operating for almost 20 years.
The LR1750/2 features a seven metre extension to the derrick boom, taking it to 38.5 metres, which increase the crane’s capacities by up to 30 percent in some areas.

The crane's first job involved replacing a 30 metre high, 270 tonne vessel at a wood materials manufacturing plant. The LR 1750/2 rigged with 575 tonnes of ballast, including 360 tonnes suspended from the back mast, lifted the old vessel at a 31 metre radius to a hook height of 64 metres. It then tracked 15 metres to an area where it could slew the load and place it on the ground. The crane was then readied to unload and lift the new vessel into place.
Over the next few years the crane will work on bridge construction projects around Lake Zurich, the Jura, Bern and Valais.
Project manager Josef Waser said: "We would not have been able to complete the work waiting for this crane this year with our LR 1400 or at least not in this form".
