Genie reconditioning move underway
Genie has started to relocate its machine reconditioning business from Waco, Texas, to the Terex plant in Oklahoma City and will start accepting equipment for reconditioning at the plant from the start of the new year.
The move, announced with the third quarter results, follows a $40 million investment in the Oklahoma City facility, to cope with a substantial consolidation of Terex production locations in North America. Earlier this year Terex took the decision to close its Waverly crane plant and move Rough Terrain and truck mounted cranes to the plant which already manufacturers some Genie products.
Senior director of product support and reconditioning Bob Bartley said: “The reconditioning business is highly dynamic due to the wide variety of aerial equipment models we need to support. By taking advantage of manufacturing synergies in the Oklahoma City facility, we can enhance our reconditioning services processes and increase efficiencies. We greatly appreciate and value our customers’ business, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with excellent reconditioning services from our Oklahoma City facility.”
