JLG extends tele rope life
JLG has extended the working life of the wire rope telescope system in its booms lifts to 12 years.
The mandatory wire rope and sheave replacement interval is currently eight years, but this has now been extended to 12 years, as long as the machine has not exceeded 7,000 hours during that period.
The extended intervals apply to the following JLG boom lift models: 600S, 600SJ, 600SC, 600SJC, 601S, 660SJ, 660SJC, 680S, 800S, 810SJ, 860SJ, 1100S, 1100SB, 1100SJP, 1200SJP, 1350SJP, 1500SJ, and 1850SJ.
The company anticipates that the longer replacement intervals will help increase rental income by keeping booms in service for longer periods, while customers should also realise increased resale values as a result of the extended intervals. Paul Kreutzwiser director for aerial work platforms said: “Wire rope replacement is one of the largest costs a fleet owner will incur over the life of a boom lift. Although highly variable, typical wire rope replacement jobs can cost fleet owners thousands of dollars per job. By increasing the length of the replacement interval, we are reducing maintenance costs and contributing to a lower total cost of ownership.”
